Vita
Rahimullah Kakar is a research associate at IFSH’s Centre for OSCE Research (CORE). He holds master’s degrees from the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and the Europa-Universität Flensburg, Germany. As part of his master’s thesis at the OSCE Academy, he conducted a research stay at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the former Afghan government. He also worked as a policy analyst for the former Afghan government.
Research Profile | Current Projects
Rahimullah Kakar studied regional security policy with focus on Afghanistan and Central Asia, the role of the EU in shaping global security governance, and the OSCE. He also analysed relations between China and Russia, and their interactions with other international actors in Afghanistan and Central Asia. Kakar has worked on IFSH-led projects, especially on spillover effects such as drug trafficking from Afghanistan and its impact on the OSCE region.
