Dr. Sylvia Kühne is a researcher at the IFSH. She joined the ISFH as part of the project "Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence as Game Changers? Modern weapon systems between expectation and reality" in October 2019. Prior to this she worked as a researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Hamburg. She holds a Diploma of Sociology and a MA in International Criminology. Her PhD thesis at the University of Hamburg explored the acceptance of emerging control technologies by the example of digital fingerprint technologies.

Sylvia Kühne works on technopolitical discourses and practices. In the project "Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence as Game Changers? Modern weapon systems between expectation and reality" she analyses contemporary discourses related to trends as automation or artificial intelligence and their perceived impact on security risks in the field of modern warfare.
