Are you interested in peace research and security policy? Do you want to learn more about strategies for preventing and resolving violent conflicts? Do you have practical experience and want to acquire further knowledge and skills?
In that case, you should apply to our two-year Master's degree program Peace and Security Studies at one of Germany's leading research institutions. You need a university degree with 180 ECTS; after admission, applicants with 240 ECTS have the opportunity to apply for a reduction to two semesters.
“Peace and Security Studies” at IFSH is the only Master’s degree program in Germany that combines questions of security policy and research with interdisciplinary and peace studies perspectives. Students acquire basic social science skills and knowledge in peace and security research and get to know interdisciplinary perspectives. You will also deal with normative questions and current conflicts in different regions of the world and with specific challenges, for example, of peacebuilding, arms control, and foreign policy.
A unique feature of the course is its interdisciplinary orientation. This is made possible through close cooperation with other academic institutions in Germany and internationally. In addition, students and lecturers from different disciplines enrich the program and contribute different approaches. Small learning groups enable intensive exchange and create a personal atmosphere.
University graduates from all disciplines are eligible to apply. You should have an interest in peace and security policy and research and have already gained some practical experience (through work, internships, and/or voluntary work). The application process starts on 15 February 2024; the application deadline is 31 March 2024.
The course is free of charge.
