The IFSH Library primarily supplies literature to its own researchers, doctoral candidates and to the staff of the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Centre for Science and Peace Research (ZNF), within the framework of their cooperation. In addition, it is open to students from Hamburg universities and the interested public.
The holdings of the IFSH Library are listed in the catalogues of the library system at the University of Hamburg. They include an OSCE Depository Library, which contains literature by and about the OSCE. Since the end of 2016, most of the documents recorded and indexed by the IFSH Library have been electronic.
The IFSH Library is a member of the German Information Network International Relations and Area Studies (FIV), an association of libraries/documentation centres from ten independent German research institutes. The joint product of these institutes is the “World Affairs Online” (WAO) database, in which the IFSH Library provides a catalogue of literature on the OSCE and publications by the Institute. The WAO is freely accessible on the Internet via the IREON portal.
