How can cooperation in European peace and security policy become effective and durable? Projects in this research area analyse the implications and interregional interdependencies of security policy in a broader European context. What role does security policy play in EU integration? And what about Europe as a peace project, which advocates for peace and security both inside and outside its borders? Our work places a particular focus on the analysis of new interfaces between various policy fields and actors. Our research examines the interdependencies of internal and external security. It probes the possibilities and limits of new formats for political cooperation in Europe and supports strategic debate on the future of the European project.
