A new forum article in the international journal Geoforum brings together some of the leading voices in the debate on climate change and security to reflect on the possibilities and limits of critical research in the face of global ecological crises. The team around IFSH researcher Dr. Delf Rothe criticizes that outdated colonial images of the Global South often persist in political debates on climate change, resource scarcity and insecurity. They discuss how climate security affects global power relations and the relationship between the Global North and South. Additionally, they consider how alternative security ideas could help to better protect people and endangered ecosystems from climate change.
