Where do we stand and where do we go from here? Under this guiding question, the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) hosted a webinar on autonomous weapon systems (AWS) on April 16, 2024. Anja Dahlmann, Head of the IFSH Berlin office, discussed past and current initiatives to regulate AWS with other experts. All speakers emphasized the urgency of legally binding regulations. Anja Dahlmann presented an overview of the current multilateral debates. She pointed out that no successes are to be expected within the framework of the United Nations Arms Convention, but that the debate there has an important normative effect for initiatives outside this forum.
