In the fall of 2020, IFSH, UHH, GIGA and HSFK jointly organized an online workshop on the topic of "Politics of Scale". The workshop's discussions have now resulted in a number of contributions, published as a blog on DVPW's homepage: https://www.dvpw.de/blog/.
In their introductory article, André Bank, Riccarda Flemmer, Regina Heller, Maren Hofius, Hanna Pfeifer and Jan Wilkens explain why it is worthwhile for German political science to take a closer look at the "Politics of Scale" as a spatial concept. It problematizes established and often static constructions of space both in research and practice and it can also improve the subdisciplines' ability to speak to each other. Alina Brad, Riccarda Flemmer, and Jonas Hein show how the "Politics of Scale" helps us analyze land rights conflicts in the first thematic post in the blog series. In a video recording of the online workshop, Kristina Dietz explains in her impressive keynote the added value of the "Politics of Scale".
