The students of the "Master of Peace and Security Studies" drove to Berlin for three days led by Dr. Patricia Schneider to experience security policy up close.
The highlights included a visit to the Bundestag and the dome of the Reichstag building and the Chancellery. Colonel Jan Krahmann reported on his consulting work in the Working Group on Security Policy of the SPD, Mr. Fabian Stoffers and Dr. Ing. Olga Spaiser talked about projects of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
More of exciting insights offered Dr. Marcel Dickow, Research Group Leader Security Policy of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs(SWP) and MPS alumni as well as Christoph Hallier, Head of Unit at the Federal Foreign Office. Mr. Karl Tillmann presented peacekeeping missions in the mirror of the work of the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF).
Also the memorial Berlin Wall was visited as part of a tour. The seminar "German Foreign policy between global engagement and national interests" was funded by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (BpB) via the asg and supported by the Youth Officer Hamburg by provision of transport. Fkptn, Prof. Frank Reininghaus, military fellow at IFSH as well as MPS alumni was helpful to the seminar leaders.
