In his most recent article, Alexander Graef examines the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS). The institute is often referred to as the PR branch of the Russian foreign intelligence service SVR (see: Mark Galeotti). RISS made headlines in the context of alleged Russian interference in the US elections.
Alexander Graef examines the history of the think tank’s development since 1992 and arrives at the conclusion that the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies has changed considerably over time and is, ultimately, no place for retired intelligence officers.
