New OSCE Insights Publications on Global Security

OSCE Insights has published three new papers addressing global security issues. Marco Bonabello and Pauline Hennings present the counterterrorism activities of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly between 2017 and 2024. They show how interparliamentary involvement has led to increased awareness among lawmakers, new policy guidance, and greater interparliamentary coordination on matters related to counterterrorism, strengthening global security governance.

Fred Tanner examines crisis management initiatives undertaken by the OSCE and other actors between 2014 and Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Tanner analyses the shortcomings of these efforts as well as missed opportunities and seeks to draw key lessons for improving future international conflict resolution efforts.

Finally, Alina Viehoff and Raquel Munayer present some of the OSCE’s initiatives in mitigating climate-related security risks highlighting the importance of participatory processes and cross-sector collaboration in scaling up climate action.
