After a warm welcome by IFSH director Professor Micheal Brzoska, Dr Patricia Schneider presented the PiraT project's recommendations for policy and economy. Thereafter, comments were made by Daniel Hosseus of the Association of German Shipowners, as well as MP Burkhard Müller-Sönksen, from the FDP and Niels Annen from the SPD. An active discussion followed, with about 65 participants mainly representing the practical side (ship masters, the navy, maritime industry, private security providers and public authorities) and from academia, about the challenges for Hamburg’s stakeholders, and German and European policy.
