Researcher Arzuu Sheranova teaches at a Summer School in Dresden

 

Dr. Arzuu Sheranova has participated as a lecturer in the summer school "The Struggle for Attention in the Public Sphere: A Perspective of Critical Phenomenology", which took place at the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Dresden from 23 to 29 July 2023. In her presentation on "Mega-Events in Kyrgyzstan (1991-2017): Power Legitimacy and Indirect Nation-Building", Sheranova spoke about the political significance of attention in post-Soviet public space. She showed how publicly significant events in Kyrgyzstan are produced by the ruling elites and used to legitimise power.

The researcher from Kyrgyzstan, is currently working as a freelance employee in the project Local Peace in Central Eurasia at IFSH.
