2. June - Peace Report 2025: Presentation at the Federal Press Conference in Berlin

On Monday, 2 June 2025, the four leading German peace and conflict research institutes will present this year's Peace Report. They conclude that peace is on the retreat: Russia's war in Ukraine is destabilizing Europe, the war in Gaza is plunging the Middle East into suffering and violence, and the conflict in Sudan has triggered the world's largest humanitarian catastrophe. At the same time, the United States - traditionally a global pillar of stability - is failing in this role. President Donald Trump is not only transforming the country into an autocracy; in foreign policy, he favors power politics over rules and cooperation.

Under the title ‘Saving peace!’, the Peace Report 2025 explains why Europe must ensure its own security and defence and at the same time adhere to the goal of peace.

About the Peace Report:
The Peace Report is the joint yearbook of the German Institutes of Peace and Conflict Research (BICC / IFSH / INEF / PRIF). It has been published annually since 1987. Researchers from various disciplines investigate the realities of conflicts in various countries around the world. Their analyses are the basis for the Editors’ Statement, which summarizes and assesses the results and formulates policy recommendations for peace and security policy in Germany and Europe.
