The IFSH is an interdisciplinary foundation and research institution at the University of Hamburg, which is institutionally supported by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The research activities of the IFSH concentrate on analysing current developments and challenges for peace and security with a focus on the European region. The transfer of knowledge from research to politics and society is a fundamental part of the Institute's work.
To strengthen our administrative team and the personnel services offered within the institute, we are looking for a Student Employee in Human Resources at our Hamburg location, starting on May 01, 2025. The working hours amount to up to 15 hours per week, and the position is remunerated according to TV-AVH pay group 2.
For our approximately 70 employees at IFSH, the HR department provides comprehensive services—from job postings and contract management to payroll processing—playing a key role in enabling our researchers to conduct excellent scientific work. Your mission
- Support for the HR Officer in operational HR tasks (e.g., handling tasks in the onboarding and offboarding process of employees, including filing documents)
- Assisting in the preparation of certificates for our employees
- Supporting the recruitment process for new employees (from job postings to contract finalization)
- Taking on additional tasks within the department’s responsibilities (e.g., checking enrollment certificates of all student employees at the start of the semester)
Your profile
- At least two completed semesters in a Bachelor's degree program (preferably in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field) and enrollment at a German university
- Independent and responsible work style, strong organizational skills, excellent teamwork abilities, quick comprehension, and conscientiousness
- Proficient in common Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Good command of the English language
Desirable:
- First practical experience in HR and familiarity with HR management systems
