In preparation for the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship in 2020, the IFSH’s Centre for OSCE Research (CORE/IFSH) conducted a special two-day training course on “Preparing for the 2020 Albanian OSCE Chairmanship”. It was hosted by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Tirana, 16-17 September 2019. The group of trainees included diplomats from the Albanian OSCE Task Force in Tirana, the Albanian Permanent Mission to the OSCE in Vienna, the OSCE Presence in Albania as well as representatives from various Albanian ministries. This was the eleventh in a series of tailor-made training events for Incoming OSCE Chairmanships that CORE/IFSH has been running since 2007. CORE/IFSH is the only institution in the OSCE area to offer this training, which complements the induction courses and activities offered to the Incoming Chairmanship teams by the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna. As always, the training was held in close co-operation with leading representatives and specialists from the OSCE Secretariat and OSCE Institutions. In a separate working meeting with Mrs Mimoza Halimi, Political Director, and Mr Armand Skapi, Secretary General of the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as Ms Inid Milo, Head of Task Force, the CORE/IFSH team with Dr. Wolfgang Zellner and Dr. Frank Evers discussed detailed matters to be addressed on the way towards the Albanian Chairmanship. The training was sponsored by the German Federal Foreign Office.
