The textbook “International Relations in the Anthropocene: New Agendas, New Agencies and New Approaches”, edited by David Chandler, Franziska Müller and Delf Rothe, introduces students of International Relations and neighbouring disciplines to the challenges of the Anthropocene epoch. The Anthropocene refers to a new geological epoch that is marked by the massive transformation of the planet caused by the human species. In their chapter, IFSH researchers Ann-Kathrin Benner and Delf Rothe take a look at Cold War predecessors of the idea of the Anthropocene and develop an analytical framework to study its conceptual history.
