Lecture about Germany´s nuclear politics since the Cold War

On April 13, 2021, Ulrich Kühn gave a lecture titled "Choosing the U.S. Nuclear Umbrella: Counterproductive Consequences of Germany's Love for the Status Quo" within the lecture series "IR Talks" at Bilkent University. Based on his latest research Ulrich Kühn analyzed the consequences of Germany´s stagnant nuclear policy in the post-Cold War era. Ulrich Kühn discussed the trends that dominated the European security landscape in the 1990s, such as a low need for nuclear deterrence and progress in arms control and disarmament, and their reversal as U.S.-Russia relations deteriorated over the past 20 years at an increasing pace.
