Workshop in Hamburg on Arms Control and Emerging Technologies

An international expert group gathered in Hamburg and exchanged knowledge about arms control and emerging technologies.

On October 19th, the Working Group on Arms Control and Emerging Technologies gathered for a workshop in Hamburg hosted by IFSH together with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Co-chaired by Dr Ulrich Kühn (IFSH) and Dr Heather Williams (CSIS), the working group is part of the Rethinking Nuclear Deterrence Network, an initiative launched by the Belfer Center at Harvard University and funded by the MacArthur Foundation.

At the workshop, 30 international experts discussed novel approaches to confront contemporary arms control challenges and advance research. Presentations covered the impact of emerging technologies on arms control and strategic stability, regional perspectives on arms control and emerging technologies, theory and the intellectual history behind arms control, and arms control policy for emerging technologies.
