One consequence of climate change is an increase in the number and destructiveness of extreme weather events, which are often expected to lead to more and more intense violent conflict. The primary goal of the project is a better understanding of the structural conditions and mechanisms which shape the consequences of extreme weather events for peace and security. The research focuses in particular on the conditions for cooperative versus confrontative behaviour on the part of disaster victims, national, and international actors. The project is conducted in cooperation with various partners. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are applied for the analysis.
