Research Profile | Current Projects
Ursula Schröder researches the emergence and change of state and supranational peace and security orders in Europe and beyond. She is co-ordinator of the inter-institutional graduate programme Democratising Security in Turbulent Times funded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as part of its state-wide research funding scheme (Landesforschungsförderung). As part of the Hamburg Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change and Society”, Ursula Schröder's project on “Conflict and Cooperation at the Climate Security Nexus” analyses which cooperative or conflicting strategies different security actors and local communities pursue in order to respond to the challenges of climate change. A current project on 'Multinational Police Assistance: Foreign Experts in Conflict-Affected States' examines practices of international police assistance by the EU and the OSCE and highlights the role of police experts as actors of global governance. In a long-term research project within the Collaborative Research Centre 700 “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood” in Berlin, she examined the effects of international interventions and the role of international actors in the establishment of national security institutions in post-conflict states.
