Research Profile | Current Projects

Ursula Schröder researches the emergence and change of state and supranational peace and security orders in Europe and beyond. She is concerned with the reorganisation of European security architectures, partly resulting from the increasing interdependence of internal and external security fields in Europe. A current project on 'Multinational Police Assistance: Foreign Experts in Conflict-Affected States' examines practices of international police assistance by the EU and the OSCE and highlights the role of police experts as actors of global governance. As part of the Hamburg Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change and Society”, Ursula Schröder's project on “Conflict and Cooperation at the Climate Security Nexus” analyses which cooperative or conflicting strategies different security actors and local communities pursue in order to respond to the challenges of climate change. In a long-term research project entitled “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood” at the Berlin Collaborative Research Centre 700, she examined the effects of international interventions and the role of international actors in the establishment of national security institutions in post-conflict states.
