The team of the research area Arms Control and Emerging Technologies was again represented at the International Studies Association (ISA) Annual Conference 2021, from 6th to 9th April. The conference with the title "Globalization, Regionalism and Nationalism: Contending Forces in World Politics" was carried out digitally due to Corona. The IFSH researchers moderated four discussion rounds, were engaged six times as discussants and participated in more than 20 other events. Among other things, they presented their work at IFSH in the context of various conference contributions. Cornelia Baciu, for example, spoke about how NATO and the EU are adapting to the shift in the international balance of power. Alexander Graef spoke about the institutional development of the Russian non-governmental organization "Council of Foreign and Defense Policy" and its relationship to the Kremlin. Neil Renic, on the other hand answered critical questions from the audience on his book Asymmetric Killing: Risk Avoidance, Just War, and the Warrior Ethos (2020). On one of the last panels, Jantje Silomon presented an assessment of EU´s Strategic Outlook with a focus on its changing position towards China.
