Research Profile | Current Projects
Martin Kahl's research focuses on terrorism and counter-terrorism, radicalization, peace within society and internal security. In this context, he is particularly interested in the conditions under which politically motivated violence arises and how society, politics and security authorities in Europe and the USA deal with such violence. In a series of research projects funded by the EU, the BMBF and the DFG, he has examined various aspects of these policies. His current focus is on issues of state surveillance and advance criminalization as well as the possibilities of freedom-preserving alternatives to such a policy.
